How to Pair the Schlage Encode with the Schlage Home App Without Adding to a Home

The Schlage Home app provides an interactive step-by-step process for pairing your lock. To ensure a seamless setup experience, it's recommended to start with the app.

Before you begin:

1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
2. Verify that your lock model is part of the Encode Series.

Encode Series Models:

• Encode (BE489)
• Encode Plus (BE499)
• Encode Lever (FE789)

To start:

• If you have an Encode model, press "Continue."
• Press "Allow" if the Schlage Home app requests access to the camera.
• Locate the QR code on the back of your lock, found under the battery cover, and use your phone's camera to scan it.
  If you prefer a manual option, wait a few seconds and select "Try Another Method" from the pop-up window. Enter the 6-digit programming code when prompted.
• The app will ask if your lock is already installed.
  If it is not, follow the provided installation steps.
  If the lock is installed, select "Yes, lock is installed" to skip the installation instructions.

To Pair Your Lock:

• Initiate the pairing process by tapping the plus icon located in the bottom right corner of the app's home screen.
• Select "Lock"
• Press "Just Add Lock" to bypass pop-up screen
• Give your lock a nickname
• Press "Continue"

• If you have an Encode model , press "Continue"

• When prompted, locate the QR code on the back of your lock, found under the battery cover.
• Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code.
  If you prefer a manual option, wait a few seconds and select "Try Another Method" from the pop-up window. Enter the 6-digit programming code when prompted:
• The app will ask if your lock is already installed.
  If it is not, follow the provided installation steps.
  If the lock is installed, select "Yes, lock is installed" to skip the installation instructions.
• When the app prompts you to:
  Gently press and quickly release the inside pairing button on the lock when prompted by the app. Do not hold down the button, as this will reset the lock. If the lock doesn’t flash blue with the first press, you can quickly press it again.
• Press "Connect Wi-Fi"
• Select your Wi-Fi from the list of networks
• Enter your Wi-Fi password
• Press "Connect Wi-Fi"
• Fill in "Access Code" and "Access Code Name"
• Press "Continue"
• Open your door slightly
• Press "I'm Ready"
  The lock will configure itself to your door
• Press "Finish" to complete set-up

By following these steps, you can successfully pair your Schlage lock with the Schlage Home app, enabling easy management and enhanced security for your home.
