How to Add Schlage Encode Plus to Apple HomeKit and the Schlage Home App

Apple HomeKit provides an easy and secure way to control HomeKit-enabled accessories using the Apple Home app and Siri on your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or HomePod. The Schlage Encode Plus (BE499) Smart WiFi Deadbolt offers seamless integration with both iOS and Android devices through the Schlage Home App. It is also compatible with Apple HomeKit and Home Keys, managed via the Apple Home app on iOS devices. Users can simultaneously pair and manage their Schlage Encode Plus smart lock in both the Schlage Home App and the Apple Home App, providing the benefits and functionality of both solutions. This setup is ideal for homes with multiple devices and smart home system preferences.

After setting up your Schlage Encode Plus lock in the Apple Home app, you can add a home key to the Wallet app for easy and secure access to your home using your iPhone or Apple Watch. A single "Express Key" (Tap to Unlock) feature can be enabled on one phone while the lock is paired with both HomeKit and Schlage. However, if you would like to share access to the Tap to Unlock feature with others, an Apple Home Hub is required.

To enjoy the full functionality and optimal setup experience, follow these steps:

• Start by downloading or opening the Schlage Home App.
• Pair the BE499 to the Schlage Home App.
  Once your Schlage Encode Plus deadbolt is paired with the Schlage Home App and your Wi-Fi network:
• Press the Menu Icon in the upper left-hand corner of the app:
• Select "Works With."
• Press "Apple HomeKit."
• Press "Get Started."
• Press "Continue to Step 2."
• Choose the HomeKit Home you would like to add your lock(s) to.
• Select the lock you'd like to pair.
• Follow in-app instructions for "Add Accessory"
  Tip: Hold your phone against the lock to activate NFC.
• Press "Add to Home."
  
  Allow the lock to set up and add to home.
  
• When prompted by the app, enter the lock name, then press "Continue"
• Press "Continue" again.
• When prompted, select from:
  Turn On Tap to Unlock
  Require Face ID or Passcode
• Enter your Access Code.
• Press "Continue."
• Press "Continue" again.
• Press "Done."
• Press "Finish Room."
• Press "Continue to Step 3."
• Press "Open Apple Home" to launch Apple HomeKit and finish the setup.
• Allow all permissions to ensure full functionality.
• Press "Continue" to finish in Apple Home.
