Understanding BHMA Grading for Locks

The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) provides a grading system for door hardware, evaluating products based on their performance in security, durability, and finish. This system categorizes hardware into grades C, B, and A, with Grade A representing the highest level of quality.

• Grade A: Known as the "best," Grade A hardware offers superior security and durability, making it ideal for high-performance applications.
• Grade B: Referred to as "better," Grade B offers a balanced level of security and durability, suitable for most residential and some commercial settings.
• Grade C: Considered "good," Grade C provides basic security and durability, appropriate for standard residential use.

In addition to these grades, BHMA also uses ANSI grades to indicate performance levels.
