Schlage Encode series locks (BE489, BE499, and FE789), are equipped to handle multiple failed code attempts and implement security measures to prevent unauthorized access. Here’s how these locks respond to incorrect code entries:
Failed Code Entry Behavior:
- Three Incorrect Code Attempts:
- After three consecutive incorrect code entries, the keypad will disable itself for 30 seconds.
- If the lock is paired with the Schlage Home app, the lock history will report that the keypad was disabled, reflecting the failed attempts.
- Four Consecutive Incorrect Code Attempts:
- After four consecutive incorrect code entries, the keypad will deactivate, and the lock’s alarm will sound for 30 seconds as an added security measure.
- Additional Incorrect Attempts:
- Each additional incorrect code entry after the initial lockout will disable the keypad for 1 minute.
- The lock can be reset by unlocking the door via the Schlage Home app or by entering the correct code once the keypad is re-enabled, restoring normal functionality.
