The Schlage Connect Series is a Z-Wave compatible smart lock that uses a secure wireless protocol for communication. Z-Wave technology allows your lock to connect to a wide variety of smart home systems, but it requires an eligible Z-Wave hub to act as the controller. A 3rd party Z-Wave hub, along with its corresponding app, is necessary to enable remote control, monitoring, and advanced features via your smartphone or other devices.
Alternatively, you can manually program your lock to use basic features such as adding or deleting access codes directly on the lock itself. However, without a Z-Wave hub, there is no way to control or monitor this lock remotely from your mobile device.
Why Do You Need a Z-Wave Hub?
The Z-Wave hub serves as the bridge between your Schlage Connect lock and your smart home. Without a hub, the lock cannot communicate with any app or other connected devices. The hub ensures secure communication and allows you to control and monitor your lock remotely.
