- Low Battery
- Keypad Lost Power
How to Fix an Unresponsive Keypad
If your Schlage Encode keypad is not responding, follow these steps to identify and resolve the issue:
1. Inspect the battery compartment
- Remove the battery cover.
- Check for any damaged or leaking batteries.
- Replace the batteries with high-quality alkaline batteries if necessary.
2. Check the Battery Level
- Press the keypad and look for a red battery indicator above the Schlage logo.
If you see the red indicator, the batteries are critically low and need to be replaced. - Alternatively, check the battery level through the Schlage Home app.
- Replace the batteries if they are low.
3. Inspect the Wire
If the batteries are not the issue, the wire going through the door may have become unplugged.
- Manually retract the bolt using the thumb-turn.
- Remove the two screws located on each side of the thumb-turn.
- Carefully remove the interior mechanism of the lock from the door.
- Inspect the wire to ensure it is securely seated and properly plugged in.
- Re-install the interior mechanism of the lock.
What to Do If the Issue Persists
If the wire is fully plugged in and reseating it does not resolve the issue, your lock may require further assistance. The Schlage Encode Series locks are covered under a 3-year electronic warranty. If you are within this warranty period, submit a ticket to Schlage customer support for additional help or a replacement.
