Schlage Encode Series: Firmware Update

The Schlage Encode Series locks automatically update their firmware periodically. These locks will download and install the latest firmware from the cloud as long as they are connected to your home Wi-Fi network and paired with the Schlage Home app.

Manually Update the Firmware:

If you need to update the firmware manually without using your phone or app, follow these steps:

1. Locate the interior button on the lock.
2. Press the interior button 5 times rapidly.
3. The lock will begin the firmware update process automatically.

Updating Firmware via the Schlage Home App:

You can also update the firmware using the Schlage Home app.

1. Open the Schlage Home app.
2. Navigate to the lock you want to update.
3. Tap the three dots next to the lock's name.
4. Select "Lock Settings", then choose "Firmware Settings".
5. Press "Update Now".
6. The firmware update will begin and complete automatically. There is no need to keep the app open or stay near the lock during this process.

Updating Firmware via Bluetooth

If you are unable to update the firmware manually or via the app, you can also perform an update through a Bluetooth connection.

1. Open the Schlage Home App.
2. Delete the lock you wish to update from the app.
3. Factory reset your lock.
4. Re-pair the lock to the Schlage Home App, skipping the Wi-Fi pairing step, simply force close the app at this step. Click here for pairing instructions.
5. Open the Schlage Home app.
6. Navigate to the lock you want to update.
7. Tap the three dots next to the lock's name.
8. Select "Lock Settings", then choose "Firmware Settings".
9. Press "Update Now".
10. The firmware update will begin and complete automatically. The phone must stay within Bluetooth range of the lock until the update is complete.
    To pair your lock to Wi-Fi:
11. Navigate to your lock and press the three dots next to its name.
12. Select "Lock Settings" from the menu.
13. Tap on "Wi-Fi Settings".
14. Press "Select Different Network".
15. Select your Wi-Fi from the list of networks
16. Enter your Wi-Fi password
17. Press "Connect Wi-Fi"
